Strangers and Streets

I've been taking the Fashion Styling course in the Fashion Institute of the Philippines for a couple of weeks  now. I'm really enjoying the activities and the lessons a lot so I thought I'd share a couple of things from our first activity: Street Style Spotting.

The agenda was simple. Find people who look stylish, approach them, have their photo taken and ask what they're wearing. Easy enough, right? But we were asked to look for 20 and I mentally cursed myself for having worn 4" heels that day - even if they were wedges.

The task seemed easy enough but I was never really one to approach strangers. I would always avoid having to talk to strangers but this task left me with no choice. I had to suck it up and ask people for their photos. Surprisingly, it was easier than I expected. After having overcome the initial awkwardness, I was able to get 18 people for the task. The time pressure gave me an extra kick of confidence and the fact that not one of the people I approached declined helped a lot.

It's funny how we find ourselves doing something we wouldn't have imagined we could do. Still, I wish somebody told me that we didn't really need to complete the 20 people earlier. It would have saved me from a lot of stress and a lot of toxins in my body. Anyway, here are some of the photos that were taken using my camera. I was too lazy to downsize the ones my photographer buddy took.
