Fashion Watch: Popular Styles for The New Season

London Fashion Week has been and gone for another year. In its wake are the huge variety of trends, styles, colors and inspirations for the new fashion season. We don’t all have the time to sit front row at these glamorous occasions, so here is a roundup of the biggest fashion themes to expect for the new season.

Hip Line:
The peplum dress in an exciting leopard print. Item can be found here.

The peplum has been sighted on every high street and designer creation for the last few months. From dresses to trousers, tops to skirts, this very versatile frill of fabric has proven a massive hit with the ladies who were once unwilling to wear such unforgivingly tight body-con styles. The trend has continued on to this season’s runways, with exaggerated peplum styles that take strong inspiration from Japanese and oriental prints.

Gloves:
Quilted leather gloves found here.

From Givenchy to Fendi, we saw gloves absolutely everywhere on the runway. Elbow length, lace tipped, leather – you name a glove style and it was spotted. Now that doesn’t mean everyone should head to work in full length red leather gloves. Yet a delicately tailored leather pair is the perfect addition to any winter coat look, while three quarter length black lace gloves add an element of glamour and mystery to a classic Little Black Dress.

Jewelry:
Go for gold with this cascading disc necklace. Item can be found here.

Expect the unexpected when it comes to jewelry this season. Forget the classic necklace or earrings, with gemstones appearing on nearly every hemline and collar around. We particularly like the array of collar style necklaces, such as the feminine Peter Pan style or the chunky beaded chokers.

Monochrome:
Try the baroque style in a new color palette. Item can be found here.

This classic mix up of black and white is popular across the runways, with the startling contrast always drawing the eye. It has filtered down to the high street as well, with a range of fabulous brands offering monochrome trends such as the new range of Lipsy dresses.

Color:
Wear purple with this striking pair of platforms found here.

If there’s one color that every stylist adored this season, it was without a doubt purple. This deep and sultry color was splashed across everything from fashion to shoes, eye shadow to pony tails! Expect to see the color purple on next season’s heels, coats and party dresses.

Luxurious fabrics:
Can't get enough of baroque? Get this dress on sale here!

This was certainly not a season of grunge fabrics and looks, something we can all be thankful for as the weather cools down. Think rich and opulent styles across every make of clothing, fabric type and overall look and feel.

Skirt styles:
Try the skater skirt in this year's color: emerald green. Item can be found here.

Skater skirts are still the must-have look, with the tight waist and flattering V-shape across the hips.
